Send a seat!

5000 children die every day due to unsafe water and poor sanitation, will you add your voice to our campaign and send a message to your MP asking them to take EXTRAORDINARY action.

We want to send as many toilet seats as possible to as many different MPs, asking them to include Water & Sanitation in their party's manifesto at the next election.

If you're up for doing this there are some steps below to give you a hand with sending a seat to your MP.

Stage 1 - Grab yourself a toilet seat, at least one but the more you can get filled the bigger the impact you’ll have.  You can get them for under a tenner at your local DIY store - or you can make seats out of cardboard or papier mache.

This will become your creative petition.  Your next job is to fill it/them with signatures – get them from people on campus, in the CU, around your church…anywhere that is your sphere of influence.  Download our form to record the signatures and make it all official - click here. Then post it back to us, Tearfund Youth & Student Team, 100 Church Road, Teddington, TW11 8QE.

The reason you're doing this is that "we think it's out of order that 5000 children die every day because of a lack of safe water and decent sanitation.  They have been forgotten by the people in power and global leaders need to be reminded."

Stage 2 – Get in touch with your MP.  Go to http://findyourmp.parliament.uk/commons/l/ and pop in your postal code to find your MP’s details.  Email them asking to meet with them to hand over the petition and to talk about Water & Sanitation.  If you would prefer to post the seats that's ok too!

Click here for our helpful guide to meeting your MP.

Email the Youth & Student team when you've filled your toilet seat with signatures, let us know how many signatures you've got and when you're going to meet your MP.  We'd love to come by and help and may be take some photos too.
