coalitions - campaigning together

Imagine for a moment that you are at a gig in Wembley stadium or at a World Cup footie match and England have just scored.  The crowd is going nuts and screaming...all you can hear is noise, none of it clear but all of it passionate.

Imagine now that the crowd crowd at the gig are shouting "More!" and that the fans are shouting "England" clap-clap-clap, "England" clap-clap-clap.  Suddenly thousands of you are united, the message is clear and it's just as passionate.

This is what can happen when different agencies campaign.  There can be loads of messages and issues flying around, all the voices are passionate and worthy but all are unclear, this is also one reason why Tearfund tries to campaign as part of coalitions.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 says that "a cord of three strands is not easily broken," if we are able to join forces with different agencies over specific issues our collective voices are louder and the impact is potentially far greater than if we worked on our own.

You can find out more about the coalitions that Tearfund works with below.

Tearfund is part of Micah Challenge, a global movement of Christians that seek to speak out, with a common voice, against the injustices of poverty.
Tearfund is a founding member of the coalition and it is our desire to see Christians at the forefront of the climate change campaign.
