prayer & politics - do they mix?

There’s always seemed to be a real divide between politics and the church, as if the political sphere is somewhere where God doesn’t enter or get involved, but that’s not exactly the view the bible presents us with.

“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanks-giving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” – (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

Paul encourages us, that as part of our worship, we should be praying for everyone, and especially for kings and all those in authority, or as the Message version puts it, “Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well.”

We’ve put together a small resource showing how we can pray more effectively for our politicians, government and world leaders.  Click here to find out more.
