what is campaigning?

Really simply, it’s people like you doing things to achieve goals or aims.

It may involve writing letters, attending rallies, living differently, involving the media, lobbying government, publicity stunts, celebrities, prayer vigils or signing petitions.

Be part of an inspired movement of people, who want to campaign for the benefit of the world’s poor, challenging the powerful on behalf of the powerless.  Check out Proverbs 31:8 which says we should “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute”, it’s not that the poor don’t have a voice or can’t talk, but their voices are often simply not heard.

This zone will provide you with exciting ways of getting to grips with the different campaigns that Tearfund runs.

“A small group of people could change the world.  Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”  We’re echoing those words and telling you that you are exciting people.  You can influence our government to make the world’s poor the first and most important thing that they think about.

Let’s take inspiration from heroes of the past, heroes like Wilberforce and the campaigners around him, let’s rise up like the modern heroes of Mandela and Bono and be part of a miracle.  Let’s be imitators of Christ, who brings good news to the poor, freedom to the slaves, sight to the blind and release for the oppressed…let’s be Jesus’ hands and feet, co-builders of His Kingdom.
