Q: Who are Tearfund and Scripture Union?
A: Tearfund is a leading Christian relief and development charity. We’re fired up about the idea that over the next ten years we can see 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches. We’re also particularly committed to stopping the spread and reversing the impact of HIV and AIDS in the places where our partners work.
Scripture Union is an international Christian charity and mission movement working in more than 140 countries with children, young people and families. The movement is made up of volunteers, staff and associates who love running holidays, leading assemblies, taking RE lessons and facilitating school Christian groups. As Christians we believe that our faith should affect how we live our lives everyday, and that includes caring for the poor and needy.

Q: Who is this fund-raising project for?
A: We’ve designed this Shoulder to Shoulder fund-raiser for school groups, but you can use the ideas for groups in other settings. We also have fund-raising packs for students and adults.
Q: Where does the money go?
A: It’s a good question, and one that people ought to be asking if you’ve not told them already. The money that you raise through these activities is spent like this.
