our future - pray

Pray for people at risk. Ask God to protect those who face floods or drought; those whose lives are threatened by the destruction of the environment.

Pray for those in power. Pray that all governments will play their part in finding the resources to help developing countries adapt to cope with the threat of climate change.

Pray for the UK Government. Pray that our government will respond to the calls of those supporting the Stop Climate Chaos campaign which is asking the government to:
o Ensure UK greenhouse gas emissions fall substantially, year-on-year, from now on.
o Do all it can at the international level to ensure global greenhouse gas emissions are irreversibly declining by 2015.
o Make sure that as part of eliminating poverty, poor countries are given all the assistance they need to supply clean energy to their people.

Pray for Christians. Ask God to help us take a lead in making decisions about our own lifestyles that will have a positive impact on people and planet.

Creative prayer for our future

'The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.' Genesis 2:15

You will need: a map of the world, case studies on climate change from our website, paper cut outs of weather symbols (suns, clouds, lightening etc) which are large enough for people to write on, pens.

Place your map of the world in the centre of your group. Put your weather symbols and pens where people can reach them. Place the case studies about climate change around the world map. Spend some time reading these and imagining what it must be like to live in a region where the climate is changing and making it more difficult for you to carry out your daily life.

Using one of the weather symbols, write a prayer about an affected region or country and place this on the corresponding part of the map. You may like to use the prayer points above to help you.
