the world can't wait - report

London didn’t know what had hit it at 2:30 on Saturday June 2nd when over 10,000 people made 3 minutes of noise blowing whistles, banging drums, ringing alarms and using loads of other really loud things!

All around Westminster, people gathered to remind Tony Blair of his, and the rest of the G8 leader's, promises to the world’s poorest. Dressed in white, carrying placards and banners the crowds were filled with excitement and energy as they waited.

Tim Hughes led a worship service in the morning with speakers who helped us to dedicate the day to God, ask for Him to be glorified through it and to ask that He would guide the leaders of the G8 in this year’s meeting. Aimee (pictured far left) had travelled with her youth group all the way from Gloucester and said the service was “really deep, the things people said really stuck in your head. It made me feel like I can make a difference.” She then grabbed a placard and went out to the rally to make some noise.

We got to meet a load more Tearfund Youth supporters, which was great so a huge “THANK YOU!” to all of you who came down, even if we didn’t get a chance to catch up with all of you. Click here to meet some other Tearfund Youth Campaigners.

June 2nd wasn’t the end of the story though!

1 Timothy 2:2 tells us that we should pray for “everyone” which includes those in authority, will you join us?

Tearfund is asking people to simply pray for change. If you say yes you’ll be joining a worldwide movement of other Christians who want to see God’s justice and change. We believe that when Christians and churches all work together towards a shared vision – change follows.

You’ve started the journey already, let’s take the next step together, click here and we'll get on our knees.
