The main aspect of the programme is the four weeks spent overseas working with a project There is however a great deal more to this whole experience both before and after the trip, which Transform and Soul Action view as being vitally important.
The following guide is there to serve both as a reminder of when these events are taking place but also to give you some idea of the purpose of the event.
All of the following events are inclusive in the cost of the programme.
Applications for the 2009 programme are open; the application deadline is 27th February 2009.
An email confirmation of application will be sent on receipt of application forms.
An invite to orientation will be sent once the team has received enough applications to proceed or post deadline, the latest date for this will be the week beginning March 2nd 2009.
If you are offered a place on the programme it will be a provisional place and will include the name of the team and which orientation you will be required to attend.
Orientation details are as follows:
When: May 8th – 10th
Where: Durban
This training event will be the first opportunity participants have to meet with their team and to begin the process of team building and gearing up for the trip together. Team building is one of many important aspects to this training weekend. As well as several sessions dedicated to this, the orientation will also cover numerous other subjects including 'What is poverty?' 'Cultural Awareness' 'Health and Safety' and an initial session on your country and project.
Reunion:
A Reunion weekend will be held in the Spring following your trip.
This is more than just a reunion with your team. There will be the opportunity to share your experiences with everybody else who has been part of an international team in 2009. Seminars on a range of topics, taking the next step after your trip and worship and space to pray and reflect also form part of the content of this weekend, which has always been enjoyed by former participants.
