Why are we running a 6 month programme?
It's a good question; we've known for a long while that 4 month teams work well to provide both our partners with help for a good length of time and a deep cultural experience for you, the participant.
In the case of our partner the Cambodian Hope Organisation, we have decided to run a 6 month placement this year as it will better aid them in their work. It does of course also offer you the chance to travel for a little longer too!
Why just one project?
As this programme is in its infancy and also because we are always driven by our partners needs above others, we are starting by partnering with CHO in 2009.
Being part of the CHO team will give you an opportunity to build deeper relationships and immerse yourself in a culture more fully than a summer or even 4 month trip. You'll become more adjusted to real life in that culture: from the exciting (trips away, the hustle and bustle of markets, the vibrancy of local people and the opportunity to serve God in an exciting environment) to the mundane (insects, washing-up, slower pace of life!) The team will travel in late January and will be a group of between six and eight people.
The 6 month programme is available for anyone over 18 to apply. We are also running a team to India which will be tailored specifically towards those over 25.
