As you serve the poor practically we’re aware you may also be wondering whether there’s a way to support the work financially. Perhaps you’ve raised more money than you need to cover your own trip expenses or individuals you’ve spoken to have been so inspired by your passion for your trip that they want to support the project in some way. Or maybe your church would like to have a long-term relationship with the partner that you've visited.

If you, individuals you know, or your church would like to offer financial support to one of our partners we have systems in place which will allow you to do so in the most appropriate way. You can send money to us before and after the trip has taken place, but we strongly advise that you don’t give money to individuals or to the partner whilst you are at your placement.

The following process exists to ensure greater accountability.

Cheques should be made payable to Tearfund and sent to: Tearfund, 100 Church Road, Teddington, Middlesex, TW11 8QE.

It is by no means compulsory for you to raise additional money! If you have any questions please do get in touch. Thank you for all that you are doing both in communicating the work Tearfund is doing around the world, but more importantly the amazing work that God is doing transforming communities and individual lives, including your own.

If you want to offer financial support:

You can do so provided it is within the calendar year of your trip. We will distribute monies to partners twice a year - once before your trip (this money needs to be with us a month before your trip), and again in the January following your trip (this money needs to be with us by 31st December following your trip)
If we hold a Gift Aid declaration from you, we will reclaim tax on your donation. This will go into Tearfund’s general funds and will be used to cover the administrative costs of sending your gift to the partner.
Donations need to be clearly marked with the following details:

a. Your name and your contact number
b. The country your trip was to
c. The partner organisation’s name
d. The fund code 1117

Please be aware that monies will be sent to the partner organisation, as a whole. We cannot direct them to specific individuals or specific areas of projects. The first £5,000 that any team raises will go towards that partners work, any monies in addition to this will go to Tearfund’s team in that region for use with existing or new projects.

If your church wants to offer financial support:

If you have been on a Transform Yourselves programme then you as a team can also give up to £5000 following the same process as above. We may also be able to organise a follow up team the following year subject to agreement from the regional team at Tearfund and the partner project you have spent your time with.
