Ruth Valerio’s book “L is for Lifestyle” is a brilliant introduction to what it means to be both a Christian and to have a concern for social justice; two things which cannot be separated. The book is really easy to pick up and put down, not a difficult read but certainly an informative one.
Every chapter takes on a completely different issue, covering everything from fishing trawlers to youth groups and recycling to tackling racism. “L is for Lifestyle” shows us how everything from what vegetables we eat to the size of our toilet systems can actually really affect our own and other people's lives.
If you feel that you don’t know enough about the issues that matter or that your everyday efforts to do anything about them are futile, this book is for you. Anyone who has a social conscience (or would like one) should read this!
