prayer revolution

So we’ve got this vision, but there’s a question that needs to be answered: how do we make it happen? For an answer, we like to remember what the old but wise guy called Saint Augustine said: we should pray as if everything depended on God and work as if everything depended on us.

Why is prayer so important to us?
For any relationship to work well, we have to communicate. When it comes to us and God things are no different, which is where prayer comes in. Without it our relationship with our Maker gets stuck. But with prayer we open ourselves up to one of the many amazing things about this faith we’re in: that we can hear and be heard by God. The facts are simple: prayer can stir up hearts. Prayer can change lives. Prayer can end poverty.

How does praying help break poverty?
God. God does it. Prayer works because of the one we’re praying to. And God cares about his people and the world he has created – he can’t stand poverty, injustice and oppression. So when we pray we find ourselves connecting with our Father who is passionate about putting right what’s wrong in the world. No wonder Jesus told his disciples to get stuck into prayer – just take a look at what he says about it in Luke 18.
